Reframing Mountain Biking: A Vision for the Future
The Reframing MTB conference is set to return in 2025, this time in the vibrant city of Bristol on March 7-8. Established in 2022 by key figures such as Henry Norman from Ride Sheffield, professional rider Manon Carpenter, and diversity advocate Aneela McKenna of Mòr Diversity, the conference aims to transform mountain biking into an inclusive, sustainable, and enjoyable experience for everyone.
About the Conference: What to Expect?
Co-hosted by Ride Bristol, this year’s theme is 'Futureproofing Mountain Biking'. This initiative invites industry professionals, community organizations, and riders to collaborate in securing a more cohesive future for the sport. The two-day event will include a variety of activities designed to engage attendees both on and off the bike.
Day One: Engaging Talks and Networking Opportunities
On Friday, March 7th, attendees can expect an engaging atmosphere conducive to sharing ideas and forging connections. Inspirational speakers will lead sessions focused on mountain biking's future, followed by workshops that encourage community input. Evening activities present an opportunity to explore Bristol’s dynamic nightlife while discussing key insights with fellow enthusiasts.
Day Two: Going Beyond the Conference Walls
Saturday, March 8th, opens the doors to the wider public with outdoor trail activities that spotlight local volunteers and community leaders who are vital in promoting mountain biking. Participants will have the chance to meet the dedicated individuals responsible for trail maintenance and outreach, fostering a sense of community and a shared commitment to progressing the sport.
Reflecting on the 2024 Conference
The previous year's event in Sheffield gathered around 60 passionate individuals from various sectors of the mountain biking community. Feedback highlighted the importance of collaborative discussions and diverse perspectives that challenge conventional thinking surrounding mountain biking.
Why Attend? The Broader Impact of Inclusivity
As mountain biking continues to evolve, fostering inclusivity and sustainability remains paramount. The ideas and commitments forged during the Reframing MTB conference can lead to actionable changes in communities, making mountain biking accessible and enjoyable for a wider audience. In turn, this enhances the industry's growth and aligns with contemporary values around health and environmental consciousness.
